Customizing Color
Besides customizing my page with widgets, which I discussed on another page (Technical Specifications > Widgets), I also customized my website’s color palette and fonts, as well as add a header photo, which I believe brings all of the content of the page together quite nicely.
With the color, I wanted the sides to be lighter than that default dark grey. So, I started by clicking on the different featured palettes until I found one that I liked. With the one I ended up using, I liked the overall color scheme, but I thought that the sides were too light, so I changed that part myself. I like how the blue tones make the user feel cool and calm, and that the contrast nicely with all of the images within the site. I also like that this palette distinguishes Heading 1 from Heading 2 but color, not just by a very slight and hardly noticeable change in size.
Customizing Font
Customizing the font was a little bit harder for me than customizing the color scheme, because I already liked the default fonts; however, I did think the headings could be a bit more distinguished from the paragraphs. I changed the headings font from the default to Merriweather. I like Merriweather, because I like the way Serif fonts look in headings, but it is a bit more dominating than the default. I did keep the default base font though. I clicked on probably every single other base font available, but I simply didn’t like any of them more than the default, and I didn’t want to customize a font just for the sake of say that I customized it.
